NY Times Doesn’t Know What Fracking Is

Greenies scored a victory recently when New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that his administration would ban hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. We’ve long noted that the campaign against fracking is based in scaremongering, not science. And the New York Times shows just how absent facts can be from the debate. The Old Grey Lady issued a correction to its article announcing Cuomo’s decision:

NYTCorrectionFracking

So the NY Times reporter didn’t know what fracking is and neither did his editor. That doesn’t give much confidence in the reporting of the Times. And unsurprisingly, the Times’ editorial board was in favor of Cuomo’s rash decision, though it did admit that fracking “has been around for many years and has been used, mostly without incident.”

The only good thing to come out of the Times’ reporting was this picture, which should serve as a reminder that Cuomo’s decision was driven by a handful of street activists trolling him at events. The next time we’re doing a video on anti-fracking activists, we’ll keep them in mind for the casting call.
